The Medical Service for Substance Abuse Treatment is a public hospital service for detoxification from drugs and dependence behavioral therapy and the start of rehabilitation.
This service is particularly dedicated to rehabilitation of patients who depend from opiates (heroin, methadone, buprenorphines), stimulants (cocaine, crack, amphetamines, ice, MDA, MDMA, analgesics and tobacco), cannabinoids, benzodiazepines, GHB and other psychotrophic drugs. When an alcohol dependence co-exists, the Services will also take care of the problem.

The Service admits patients only by choice: admission to clinics must be adequately programmed.

The whole therapeutic program is completely free of charge. Admissions are regulated in two ways:

Once telephone contact has been established, the patient is invited to a pre-admission visit with the Director or one of the doctors of the Service. On meeting, therapeutic methods will be explained in detail and the rehabilitation program to be followed after discharging will be defined. At the end of the consultation the patients themselves will decide whether the detoxification protocol fully responds to their expectations. If the patients voluntarily accept hospitalization they will have to wait for a few weeks - the time necessary to organize their admission.
